Antique Late Victorian Oak Wellington Chest of Drawers

Description

An antique late Victorian oak Wellington chest of drawers, of useful proportions and traditional form. Constructed in oak, the chest comprises a series of graduating drawers, each with fine reeded detailing to the fronts and moulded edges. The drawers are enclosed by a locking hinged panel to one side, a characteristic feature of the Wellington chest. Raised on turned feet, the chest has a pleasing warm oak colour and attractive natural grain throughout.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition, commensurate with age and use. There are historic splits to the sides, consistent with age-related timber shrinkage and movement. There are various marks, scratches and areas of wear throughout, commensurate with previous use. Noticeable marks to the top as pictured. The drawers open and close correctly and the locking hinged panel remains present. The oak retains a pleasing warm colour and natural grain. Overall, a useful and well-proportioned example with attractive reeded detailing.
