Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian furniture spans the reigns of the four British kings named George from 1714 to 1830, characterised by a transition from heavy, dark woods to refined mahogany, incorporating classical proportions influenced by Palladianism and the designs of Chippendale and Sheraton.

Cabinet makers predominantly used imported Honduras and West Indian mahogany, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer construction, solid oak drawer linings, and brass drop handles mounted on shaped backplates.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, irregular dovetails, shrinkage cracks consistent with age, original secondary woods like oak or pine inside, and patination developed over centuries of polishing.

This piece functions effectively as a focal point in a contemporary bedroom or hallway, contrasting clean modern plaster walls with rich timber tones while serving as practical storage.

Maintain a stable room temperature away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dust regularly with a dry lint-free cloth, and periodically apply traditional beeswax to nourish the timber without building up synthetic residues.
