Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Edwardian serpentine chest of drawers features a contoured front that curves outward in the centre and inward at the sides, a style revived during the early twentieth century from eighteenth-century Georgian designs. These pieces typically showcase fine timber veneers, such as flame mahogany, applied over solid wooden frames.

High-quality Edwardian chests were constructed using mahogany or flame mahogany veneers for exterior surfaces, often supported by secondary woods like pine or oak for internal drawer linings. Handles and keyhole escutcheons were commonly made from cast or stamped brass.

Authentic Edwardian furniture features fine hand-cut or early machine dovetail joints on drawer construction, smooth drawer runners, and natural oxidisation on internal pine or oak linings. The brass fittings often exhibit subtle wear and patina consistent with age.

A mahogany chest can be styled as a focal point in a modern bedroom or hallway by pairing dark wood tones with pale, neutral wall colours. Placing contemporary artwork or modern lighting on or above the chest creates an appealing visual contrast.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the wood. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer fading.
