Antique 1920s Buren Pocket Watch

1900 - 1920
Sold 14 October 2025 · The Vintage Wrist Watch Company
This “Antique 1920s Buren Pocket Watch” found a buyer.

It was listed by The Vintage Wrist Watch Company. Sold pieces stay on Sellingantiques as a record of what has passed through, and the next one is rarely far away.

Description

Antique 1920s Buren pocket watch.

The watch has a good quality 15-jewel stem-winding movement, signed Buren, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 48mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold filled and was made for Buren by the Keystone Watch Case Company. The case is in good condition, just a slight hint of unevenness to the hinged case back, but nothing too detrimental at all. The back cover has scratching to the inside.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The dial is in beautiful condition, as is the lens and the unusually shaped hands are a very handsome feature.

The watch comes in an antique presentation box from a Swansea jeweller.

Declaration

Dealers Notes

ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (because of GPSR legislation, we no longer post items less than 100 years old to Europe, including Northern Ireland).

Please contact us regarding international shipping.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.

Buren Watch Company was established in Switzerland in the late 19th century and became renowned for producing reliable, high-quality mechanical movements and pocket watches throughout the Art Deco era.

Pocket watches from this period were typically constructed using base metal cases with gold plating, enamel dials featuring painted Roman or Arabic numerals, and tempered steel hands enclosing intricate brass mechanical movements.

Authenticity is verified by examining hallmarks inside the case back, inspecting the movement for maker signatures and serial numbers, and checking for period-correct enamel dial manufacturing techniques.

An antique timepiece can be styled within a study or library setting by placing it on a specialist desk stand, inside a glass cloche, or displayed alongside other desk accessories on a mantelpiece.

Mechanical watches require regular professional servicing every few to several years, protection from moisture and extreme temperature fluctuations, and careful manual winding without over-tensioning the mainspring.
