FAQs

The lion and unicorn serve as the supporters of the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom, representing England and Scotland respectively, a tradition dating back to the unification of the crowns.

These items were produced using sand casting methods, where molten iron was poured into hand-packed moulds, followed by hand-finishing of surface details by skilled metalworkers.

Authenticity is determined by examining casting seams, weight density, surface oxidisation patterns, and tool marks consistent with nineteenth-century foundry practices rather than modern mass production.

These sculptures work effectively as focal points in traditional libraries, grand hallways, or positioned as formal entrance guards in garden settings to add historical weight.

Preservation involves removing dust with a soft brush, avoiding harsh chemical solvents, and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to protect the metal from moisture and rust.
