The Queen Anne style emerged in the early eighteenth century, characterised by graceful curved lines, cabriole legs, pad feet, and a shift away from heavy ornamentation towards restrained elegance.

These pieces typically utilised structural timbers such as oak or pine as a carcase, overlaid with highly figured walnut veneers and feather-banding, and assembled with traditional dovetail joints.

Authenticity is determined by examining hand-cut dovetails, original brass hardware with correct patination, timber shrinkage patterns, and the construction methods consistent with eighteenth-century cabinet making.

A period tallboy serves as a sculptural statement piece in a contemporary setting, providing functional vertical storage while contrasting clean modern lines with rich historic textures.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent veneer fading, and applying occasional microcrystalline wax to nourish the historic timber surface.
