FAQs

Brass beds gained immense popularity during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, particularly in France and Britain, where advancements in metallurgy allowed for more intricate tubular framing and decorative casting techniques.

These beds are typically constructed using hollow brass tubing mounted onto iron internal frames, featuring dovetailed joints, threaded spindle rods, and decorative cast brass finials or collars.

Authentic pieces often display natural tarnish, minor surface oxidisation, hand-cast detailing with slight irregularities, and heavy gauge metal components rather than lightweight modern aluminium plating.

Pairing a metallic antique bed with neutral linen bedding, contemporary minimalist bedside tables, and soft ambient lighting creates a balanced contrast between historical character and modern simplicity.

Preserve the metal finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical polishes that can strip the protective lacquer or patina accumulated over decades.
