Originating from the Aegean region of Turkey, Milas rugs are characterized by distinct pointed arch motifs known as mihrabs, paired with intricate floral rosettes and soft colour palettes derived from natural dyes.

These textiles were traditionally hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile onto a wool warp and weft foundation, utilizing symmetrical double knots to create detailed geometric motifs.

Authentic pieces feature natural dye abrash variations, hand-bound selvedges, soft handle, and distinct regional design elements such as stepped niche arches and geometric floral borders.

Displaying framed textile fragments on modern neutral walls adds tactile depth, geometric structure, and historic warmth to both contemporary minimal and bohemian interior spaces.

To prevent deterioration, framed textile fragments should be mounted using acid-free conservation materials, kept away from direct sunlight, and displayed behind protective UV-filtering glass.
