FAQs

Iron and metal beds gained popularity during the 19th century with the advancement of industrial manufacturing techniques, replacing traditional wooden frames for better hygiene and durability.

These pieces are typically constructed from forged or cast iron components, often joined with metal brackets, featuring tubular frames and decorative finials or spindles.

Authentic period pieces often feature hand-forged elements, heavier gauge metal, casting marks, and historical surface patination rather than modern uniform powder coating.

Pair the industrial or minimalist lines of a metal bed with soft natural linens, neutral tones, and contrasting textures to balance the rigidity of the iron structure.

Maintain the metal by dusting regularly with a dry cloth and addressing any surface oxidisation gently with appropriate metal protectants without stripping the historical finish.
