Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Chinese Qing style cloisonné lidded koro stands as a striking example of traditional metalwork and enamel craftsmanship. The vessel displays a vibrant turquoise blue ground adorned with intricate multi-coloured floral scrollwork, lotus motifs, and classical symbols, all sectioned by delicate bronze wirework. A gilded mythical foo dog finial surmounts the domed cover, whilst the body rests upon three ornate tripod mask legs. The entire piece elevates upon a carved dark wood ebonized stand featuring subtle circular mouldings and traditional decorative detailing. Measuring 130 cm high, the koro is suited for placement atop a large sideboard or within a gentleman's library, bringing an opulent yet formal focal point to a refined interior space.

FAQs

A koro is a lidded vessel traditionally crafted for burning incense within East Asian ritual and domestic spaces. Cloisonne variants feature detailed surface patterning created by applying coloured enamel pastes into compartments formed by thin metal wires.

Traditional Chinese cloisonne censers are constructed using copper or bronze bases, metal filigree wires, vitreous enamel pastes made from ground glass pigments, and cast gilded bronze fittings for handles or finials.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit hand-formed metal wirework, minor pinhole pitting in the enamel glaze from original kiln firing, and natural wear or oxidisation to the gilded cast bronze elements.

Position the vessel on a dark wood sideboard top, console table, or shelf to create a focal point, pairing it with minimal modern ceramics or structured floral arrangements.

Maintain cloisonne surfaces by wiping gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid water, harsh chemical cleaners, and metal polishes, as these can dull the enamel finish or strip residual gilding.
