This pair of Victorian Grand Tour decorative vessels takes the form of antique drinking cups, fashioned from bronze with an ebonised wood and marble construction and a dark bronze colour. Each goblet displays an aged patina with time-worn tonality, ornate relief carving depicting morning glory flowerheads, and vine-form handles beneath a wide, shaped rim. The turned, knopped stem rises from an octagonal base mounted on a shield-shaped socle, dressed with a protective leather pad to the underside. Standing at 17.5 cm high, 17.5 cm wide, and 12 cm deep, these substantial pieces weigh 1.71 kg and 1.68 kg respectively. They suit placement upon a mantelpiece in a gentleman's library or similar interior space to add classical decorative interest.

Grand Tour bronzes were decorative items created primarily in Italy during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as souvenir keepsakes for wealthy European travellers exploring classical antiquity.

These pieces were typically cast in bronze using lost-wax or sand-casting techniques, featuring hand-chased relief details, applied chemical patinas, and bases made of stone, marble, or ebonised wood.

Authentic examples demonstrate crisp casting definition, natural age-related patina or surface oxidisation, hand-finished chasing work, and substantial physical weight consistent with solid cast metal.

Position them as a symmetrical pair on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or within a bookshelf to introduce dark metal textures and classical historical character to modern decor schemes.

Dust gently using a soft microfibre cloth or light brush, avoiding abrasive polishes, liquid solvents, or chemical cleaners that could strip the original historical patina.
