This is a statuesque English Georgian Bureau Bookcase dating back circa 1820 evokes all the history and tradition of its origins but it has been given a decorative twist with a stunning later scraped back paint finish of blues over white showing a wonderful dry patination. In addition the bureau area and top section have fully functioning and working locks with keys, sadly there are no locks to the drawers in the base section.This lovely item is well made from solid mahogany with oak lined drawers throughout, using quality brass swan neck handles, locks and escutcheons. The upper section sits on the separate base section facilitating ease of movement and transportation.The upper bookcase section and has a moulded cornice above two solid panelled doors with original brass escutcheons, locks and working key.
