Whites Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.

This lovely item is well made from solid mahogany with oak lined drawers throughout, using quality brass swan neck handles, locks and escutcheons. The upper section sits on the separate base section facilitating ease of movement and transportation.

The upper bookcase section and has a moulded cornice above two solid panelled doors with original brass escutcheons, locks and working key. At the base of this top section there are two candle slides. Internally there are fixed shelves (please refer to the photos for details). All of this sits above the base section which is raised on bracket feet and makes up the bureau section configured of two over three drawers.

The panelled bureau fall front, again with original brass escutcheon, working lock and key, when opened reveals the interior with a painted faux marble finish to the writing surface of the fall and drawers and fixed pigeon holes. Below this section is a configuration of two over three drawers, all with brass escutcheons, original brass swan neck handles but no locks and therefore no keys.
