An Ersari chuval is a traditional face panel from a large storage bag woven by the nomadic Ersari tribe of Turkmenistan, historically used within yurts for household storage and dowry displays.

These pieces are traditionally hand-knotted using locally sourced handspun wool for both the pile and foundation, dyed with natural insect and plant dyes such as madder root.

Authenticity is determined by evaluating the handle of the wool, natural abrash variations in the dye, asymmetrical knots, and traditional motifs such as the characteristic gul medallions.

This type of textile can be displayed as a wall hanging to protect it from floor traffic or used as a compact floor accent to introduce rich colour, texture, and historical depth into a minimalist or eclectic scheme.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without a beater bar, keeping the textile away from direct sunlight to prevent fading, and ensuring it remains dry to protect natural fibres.
