We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Copper cooking vessels were widely produced throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, favoured in domestic and commercial kitchens for the metals high thermal conductivity. Large pots were used over open hearths or ranges for brewing, washing, and preparing large quantities of food.

These vessels were crafted from heavy sheet copper, often hand-hammered and joined with dovetailed or brazed seams. Handles were typically made of wrought iron or cast brass, secured to the body with sturdy copper rivets.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-riveted handle attachments, visible seam lines around the base or sides, and slight irregularities in wall thickness from hand-hammering. Natural surface oxidisation, verdigris in recesses, and heavy overall weight also indicate age.

Large copper cauldrons are commonly styled as log baskets alongside a fireplace hearth or repurposed as indoor plant containers. Their textured surface and patinated tones add visual warmth to rustic and traditional interior schemes.

To preserve historic patina and verdigris, avoid harsh metal polishes or acid treatments. Dust regularly with a soft cloth and wipe gentle grime away using warm water; ensure the copper is thoroughly dried to prevent excessive corrosion.
