Large 19th century Japanese bronze bowl or jardinière, c1890. Nicely cast and heavy at 2.7kg it is decorated to all sides in traditional style with tigers,3 clawed dragons etc. It has character marks on the base and has taken on good colour/patina following years of use. This large nineteenth-century Japanese bronze jardinière originates from the Meiji period, weighing 2.7 kg. The vessel takes a rounded bowl shape with a flared rim and stands on a circular base. It has a polished brass gold colour and shows minor blemishes and marks from age and use. The exterior is decorated with incised motifs including a three-clawed dragon, geometric key fret borders, cloud patterns, and character marks on the base.
