Small Early 18th Century Walnut Bureau

A Fine Early 18th Century George I Walnut Bureau of rare small proportions and nice faded colour. In good original condition. The chased handles, escutcheons, drawer locks, interior knobs and fall hinges are all original. Veneered throughout with figured matched Walnut on Oak groundwork as the best examples usually are. The edges of the drawers with feather banding and fall with double feather banding, all fitted with fine cross grain lip mould. The drawer linings are in good clean original condition and also made in Oak. The interior with sliding well, figured central door flanked with fluted pilasters, having shaped pigeon holes and four small drawers to the sides. The feet have been made in the correct manner for the period but are later replacements. There are working keys to the fall and interior door.
