Description

This is a good antique bureau with a nicely fitted interior which includes a well hidden secret drawer. The bureau has been sympathetically refinished bringing it back to a good rich colour. The handles are later but similar in style to the period. Difficult to imagine now but this bureau in unrestored condition would have sold for approximately £1500 in the 1980s, the main markets being Italy and America. There are one or two shrinking splits to the pine drawer linings but overall it's condition is very good and nice to see the original ogee bracket feet. The escutcheons are ivory and have been registered for sale on gov.uk reference DEBTB3TA. Stands really well, an instant home office and buying at the bottom of the market and not the top.
