The armorial bearings of the Weddell family, the shield crest with bird and shell detail surmounted by a helmet and a heraldic bird, with swag and garland detail. Oil on canvas laid on board, with old paper label to verso: “This Blazonry of the armorial bearing of the Weddells was found in a portfolio given to me by Sarah Weddell of Farm, last of the family in 1885. It is very admirably executed.”

Total height including the frame 44.5cm x 38cm wide.
