Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency chaise longues, dating roughly from 1811 to 1830, draw heavy influence from classical Greco-Roman forms. They typically feature elegant asymmetrical silhouettes, turned or curved saber legs, flame mahogany veneers, and brass castors or brass paw feet.

Cabinetmakers during the Regency era favoured dense timbers like Cuban mahogany and rosewood. Frames were crafted using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, while upholstery utilised horsehair padding, metal coil springs, brass stud detailing, and silk or velvet covers.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved mahogany frame details, hand-cut dovetail joints inside timber rails, original cast brass fittings, and natural wood oxidation on unstained undersides. Wear around brass castors and hand-stitched upholstery webbing also indicate age.

Position a chaise longue along a wide wall, in a reading nook, or near a bay window to maximize its architectural silhouette. Pairing classical wooden frames with contemporary neutral walls creates a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern minimalism.

Dust timber frames regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to nourish the mahogany. Keep delicate upholstery out of direct sunlight to prevent fabric fading, and clean textiles using gentle, dry-vacuuming attachments.
