Castleforge Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1750s.
The fall front has a brass escutcheon and there is a joint line where the two pieces of oak meet and it opens to reveal assorted pigeon holes and a leatherette writing surface. To the base there are four garaduating drawers all of which are pine lined and with later brass handles and escutcheons.
Please note that the line in the glass is not a crack it is a reflection of a wire on the ceiling where we photograph.
Measures: 84" high X height to top of bureau 41" X knee height 29" X 20" deep X internal depth (top) 10" X 41" wide.
