Eighteenth-century walnut chests typically feature rich timber grain, crossbanded drawer fronts, and classic proportioning characteristic of Georgian craftsmanship.

These pieces generally employ solid walnut and walnut veneers applied to secondary woods like pine or oak, joined with hand-cut dovetails and fitted with cast brass hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, timber shrinkage patterns, old patination, and hand-forged or cast brass fixings without modern manufacturing marks.

Pair the piece with clean walls and minimalist contemporary lighting or art to highlight the deep wood tones and historical craftsmanship as a focal point.

Keep the furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources, maintain stable indoor humidity levels, and occasionally apply microcrystalline wax to nourish the timber.
