Lovely antique late 19th century french kingwood and gilt ormolu secretaire or writing cabinet bureau in the style of louis x1v and dating from around 1900. A most attractive writing cabinet with a serpentine shaped top with moulded edge and with ormolu gilt mounts to each side and to the feet. To the top there is a long drawer with gilt handles and lock escutcheon above an inlaid and cross banded fall front with working lock and key and which opens to reveal a lovely interior with open compartment for books etc with shaped frieze above a set of five small drawers all with small gilt handles and an embossed leather writing surface in very good condition. To the base there are three long drawers all of the drawers being oak lined and with gilt handles. It stands on splayed legs with ormolu mounts and joined by a shaped frieze.
