Bureau George II Walnut Original Brasses Small C1740

Here we have an outstanding George II Walnut bureau c1740. As you can see the bureau has fantastic colour and patina. The top has super colour and grain with a Satinwood line inlay. This line inlay is also replicated on the fall front with a cross banded border and moulded edge. The drawers also have line inlay and Oak linings and wonderful original brass handles and escutcheons. There is a super moulding above the original bracket feet. The fall front has the original working lock and key and opens to reveal one of the best interiors we have seen. There is an arrangement of drawers all finished in beautiful figured Walnut and again with line inlay to the fronts and door front. The drawers are all Oak lined and the solid Walnut door opens to reveal one of the more unusual secret compartments we have seen. Usually the door flanks which incidentally are beautifully moulded slide out however it is the internal boards which slide out and reveal hidden compartments. There are original hinge...s to the fall front. A truly stunning example of small proportions being less that 36 inches wide in great retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 91 cm wide 106 cm high 51 cm deep.
