Superior Sheraton Revival Edwardian Inlaid Bureau Bookcase

A superior quality Sheraton revival bureau bookcase. Constructed from fine figured mahogany with satinwood cross banding between boxwood and ebony lines throughout. The wonderful swan neck pediment having inlaid scrolling foliage and satinwood motifs above the satinwood dentil cornice. The 2 glazed doors having attractive astragal glazing bars and open to a mahogany lined interior with 3 adjustable shelves. The beautifully inlaid fall having scrolling vine leaves and flowers all centred around scrolling parchment with particularly good pen work. The fall opens to a well fitted satinwood inlaid interior which includes 7 various sized drawers, 6 pigeonholes and a small marquetry inlaid cupboard door, the writing surface having a replaced hand dyed green leather with blind and gold tooling with satinwood banding. The base having 4 graduated and cock beaded drawers all inlaid with satinwood banding and boxwood stringing, the oval back plate brass handles are old but not original and the whole supported on off set shaped bracket feet.
