Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Miniature chests of drawers were typically crafted in the 18th and 19th centuries as cabinetmaker apprentice pieces, master class demonstrations, or salesman samples. They served to showcase structural joinery and wood finishing on a reduced scale before full-size pieces were commissioned.

These scaled pieces were predominantly constructed from hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or fruitwood, often featuring pine or oak drawer linings. Construction details frequently mirrored full-size cabinetry, including hand-cut dovetail joints, turned wooden knobs, and brass escutcheons.

Authentic period examples exhibit genuine hand-cut dovetail joinery, hand-planed secondary timbers, and natural age-related patination. Look for authentic wear along the drawer runners, period-correct hardware, and timber shrinkage consistent with 19th-century construction methods.

A miniature chest serves as a functional decorative object atop a console table, sideboard, or desk in modern spaces. It offers storage for jewellery, trinkets, or stationery while adding historic timber tones to modern shelving.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the finish. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, extreme humidity, and chemical cleaners that could damage the original surface finish.
