FAQs

During the Victorian era, fireplaces served as the primary source of home heating, making companion sets both essential utilitarian objects and decorative parlour accessories often crafted from cast brass and iron.

Traditional fire tools were predominantly constructed from cast and wrought metals such as brass, iron, and steel, occasionally featuring turned wooden handles or decorative brass finials.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period manufacturing techniques such as sand casting seams, hand-finished detailing, natural patination, and wear patterns consistent with historical use.

Placing a set of polished or patinated metal fire irons beside a working hearth or decorative fireplace adds textural contrast and historical character to contemporary living spaces.

Preservation involves dusting with a soft cloth and avoiding harsh chemical cleaners to protect the natural historical patina that develops on the metal over time.
