The Belouchi are a confederation of nomadic groups that migrated in the north-east Persia and Central Asia for centuries. Their material culture inclued many types of domestic weavings including storage bags, saddle covers and for floorcoverings. Belouchi weavings in this runner format are, however, quite rare, and especially with the coveted Mina Khani design. This piece, with a wool foundation, has fine dyes and lovely glowing pile. Note the charming borders, repeating stars and trees in the long borders with repeating stars in the short borders. This piece has survived the generations in reasonably good condition. A few scattered repairs professionally undertaken. It retains its original ends and selvages.
