Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Victorian brass beds gained popularity during the 19th century following advancements in metallurgy and industrial manufacturing. They replaced wooden frames as a more hygienic and durable alternative during the height of the Victorian era.

These beds typically feature heavy-gauge brass tubing or solid brass components joined by cast iron structural elements. Joints were often secured using threaded components, dovetail wedges, or heavy metal side rails.

Authentic pieces usually exhibit weight, casting flaws, hand-finished joints, and natural patina consistent with age. Maker stamps on the iron rails and older cast iron componentry also indicate period manufacture.

Pairing these metallic frames with neutral linens, minimalist bedding, and contemporary wall textures creates a balanced look. The warm metallic finish complements both modern minimalist and transitional bedroom schemes.

Maintain the surface by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners that strip the historic lacquer or patina. If polishing is necessary, use a mild, non-abrasive brass cleaner specifically formulated for antiques.
