An extremely rare and exceptional quality George I figured Oak Bureau of very small proportions having good colour and patina, in remarkably good original condition, retaining original handles, locks, hinges and the original feet with repairs to the two at the back. The shaped stepped interior is an outstanding piece of cabinet work, in fact it the best one we''ve ever seen on a small Bureau. It is fitted with a multitude of secret drawers and hidden compartments. The piece is banded throughout in mahogany, it has clean original Oak linings and components. It is really amazing to see how clean and untouched the secret drawers are with the immaculate original ring drops still in place. There is even a tiny lock on the sliding well to the centre of the interior, a feature we have never seen before. A sliding lock is fitted to the long drawer below the well that is operated via the well. The working key for the fall also works the locks on all the long drawers.
