Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Twentieth-century British figurative painting often explores narrative themes, realism, and social or sporting subjects, reflecting the artistic movements and cultural shifts of the era.

These works typically utilise oil paints applied to stretched canvas or linen panels, often accompanied by traditional wooden strainer frames.

Authenticity is assessed through signature analysis, examination of canvas ageing, stretcher construction, pigment testing, and provenance documentation linking the piece to the artists known body of work.

A large-scale painting works well as a focal point in a spacious living room or hallway, paired with neutral walls and subtle lighting to highlight the artworks colours and texture.

Preservation involves keeping paintings away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity levels. Surface dust should be gently removed with a soft, dry brush, while professional cleaning and varnish removal must be left to a conservator.
