Gorgeous late 19th century antique Angora carpet, woven in a small town in Western Anatolia, Ushak, this type of Turkish carpet are known as Angora carpets. The late 19th century weavers came from villages outside of Ushak and employed tribal techniques. Paramount to these techniques was the use of larger knots on these carpets (sometimes less than 30 knots per square inch) and an all-wool foundation. This is why Ushaks have a soft loose feel and their designs are more often very open.
Woven with faded light greens, pinks and sandy tone dyes, it is perfect for a bedroom, study or drawing room looking for a subtle calm look. In good original condition, with small areas of wear. The majority of the carpet has a soft pile showing all over, please view all the additional images to see the condition up close. A wonderful antique decorative carpet.
Request a home visit to see this beautiful pale Angora Ushak carpet at home. We travel nationwide, offering our professional, free, no... obligation service for over 30 years.
