Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Art Deco emerged in the 1920s and reached peak popularity in the 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric forms, modern industrial materials, and luxurious exotic veneers.

Art Deco furniture typically utilised solid secondary woods overlaid with highly figured decorative veneers such as burr walnut, maple, or mahogany, often finished with high-gloss French polish or lacquer.

Authentic pieces feature period-specific veneer matching, symmetrical grain patterns, structural joinery indicative of the 1920s to 1940s, and clean, streamlined silhouettes free from excessive historical revival ornamentation.

Pair the piece with neutral walls, minimalist lighting, and textural elements like velvet or silk to let the striking grain of the burr walnut act as the focal point of the bedroom.

Keep wooden furniture out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, and dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth without using silicone-based polishes.
