A major, mid century modern work by French artist Claude Dechezelle (1928-2003). Having studied with Jean Dupas, the art deco painter and designer, at the Paris Academy of Fine Arts. Dechezelle he obtains the Velasquez Prize and with it, a scholarship to work at the Casa Velazquez in Madrid from 1955-1957. The painted presented here, depicting an abstracted southern city, was painted during this period. Dechezelle would continue to obtain the Eugène Carrière Prize in 1965, and a Gold Medal at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1984. His work was shown at the Paris Biennale, and a posthumous exhibition took place at the Fondation Taylor in 2005: His work is elegant, timeless and dynamic, and perfect for the 21st Century.Paintings by Dechezelle are held by the Casa de Velazquez and the National Art Historical Institute in Paris.
