Exceptional 'haji Jalili' Tabriz Carpet, 5.61m X 3.93m

£17,500    $23,556    €20,195
Haji Jalili was a master weaver in Tabriz who produced some of the finest carpets in Persia during the Revival period of carpet weaving in the last quarter of the 19th century. He is known making very finely knotted carpets with a subtle use of colour, and the soft grainy texture of his wool. This grand carpet, with a classical design and a very refined palette, is typical of the best of his weavings. The medallion design is elegantly drawn and not over complex. The choice of colours reveals a sensitivity to those who wish a carpet to have a less forceful impact, and are harmonious. One can imagine this wonderful carpet adorning a beautiful drawing room, library or dining room. Cherished through the generations, it has survived In excellent original condition, especially given the palace size. A truly wonderful example of Persian revival period carpet weaving. Professionally cleaned and ready for immediate use.
