Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A khorjin is a traditional double saddlebag handwoven by nomadic Shahsavan pastoralists of northwestern Persia and the southern Caucasus. Constructed with two matching pouches joined by a central bridge, these textiles were mounted over pack animals to carry goods and household possessions.

These bags were hand-spun using local sheeps wool dyed with natural plant and mineral extracts such as madder, indigo, and pomegranate rind. Weavers employed flatweave (kilim) techniques alongside soumak brocading and extra-weft patterning to create resilient, dense fabrics capable of enduring nomadic travel.

Authentic 19th-century pieces display soft abrash variations in the hand-dyed wool, fine hand-spun yarns, and intricate geometric iconography including latch-hook medallions and diamond grid borders. Additionally, authentic period examples exhibit natural age-related patination and structural details such as original slit bridges and braided selvedges.

Antique saddlebags are frequently mounted on linen as framed wall art or hung directly from thin iron rods to add texture to vertical surfaces. Alternatively, individual pouches from unjoined bags can be converted into accent cushions for sofas and armchairs.

Keep wool flatweaves out of direct sunlight to prevent natural dyes from fading, and maintain consistent low humidity to protect against fibre brittleness. Clean only by gentle vacuuming with a brushless attachment, avoiding chemical detergents or washing.
