Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Edwardian compactum wardrobe is a large, multi-functional piece of bedroom storage furniture popular during the early twentieth century. It typically combines hanging space behind mirrored doors with a central section containing small cupboard doors and a vertical stack of drawers.

Edwardian cabinetmakers frequently used mahogany, walnut, and satinwood. Construction often included boxwood or satinwood stringing inlay, cast brass handles, solid drawer linings, and thick silvered glass mirrors.

Authentic Edwardian pieces generally display lighter, more restrained proportions than heavier Victorian predecessors, featuring delicate satinwood inlay, hand-dovetailed drawer joints, stamped brass hardware, and original bevelled mirror panels.

Position the wardrobe as an anchor piece along a primary wall in a bedroom or spacious hallway. Contrast the rich mahogany tones with neutral walls, soft linen window treatments, and contemporary lighting to keep the scheme balanced.

Dust surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish twice a year along the grain. Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent warping or cracking of the inlay.
