Superb Antique Georgian Mahogany Bookcase Bureau with Secret Drawers C1780 Wdb490/13.4

This is a stunning antique george 111 mahogany bureau bookcase and dating form around 1780. Constructed from quality mahogany it has a cornice top with dental moulding above a mahogany frieze and two mahogany glazed doors with working key and with three internal adjustable shelves. The fall front has a brass escutcheon and working key and opens to reveal a very nice interior with a small central door with banded edge and inlaid shell motiffe and inside there is a small shelf compartment that removes and reveals a small row of four secret drawers! (see photo) to either side of the door there is a secret bookend compartment which slide out and then to either side there are three pigeon holes above four small drawers .

To the base there are three long graduating drawers all of which are oak lined and with original brass handles. It is moulded to the base and stands on bracket feet.

This is a lovely georgian mahogany bureau bookcase in very good condition with a lovely deep colour and patination to the quality mahogany oozing the charm and character of the georgian period.

The top lifts off the base for ease of transporting.
