Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
1870 and has been built by a true Victorian Craftsman. It has the most striking brass inlay on beautifully figured rosewood. This fine antique writing table has four small drawers along with two secret drawers (opened using a small button under the top drawer) above a tooled leather writing insert that pulls out offering additional working surface. Below are two further drawers and they are all with a key and double locking mechanism. This sits on shaped sides with turned upright supports, has a turned cross stretcher and four splayed legs with castors. The rosewood is a rich shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
