The shaped bureau lid opens with pull out supports to reveal eight drawers, the central door, flanked by sliding bookend style secret document drawers and two large pigeon holes. Also, below the bureau section there is a full width drawer for further storage.

Standing on shaped cabriole style legs and the bureau splits into two parts for ease of moving.
The bureau retains its two working locks and there is a working key too.
