A superb quality Biedermeier secretaire bookcase constructed from the finest figured mahogany with oak linings. The cornice having a shaped upstand with applied carving and flanked by turned finials. The canted corners with applied square columns and scroll carved corbels. The base section having rounded corners above conforming applied columns and corbels. The deep top drawer with shaped and moulded panel and opens to reveal a very well fitted interior consisting of a shaped centre cupboard flanked by decorative turnings and 2 banks of 3 serpentine fronted rosewood and marquetry inlaid drawers. The rosewood pull out writing slide retains the original inset leather and has 3 dummy drawers as a backing to the slide. The 3 wide drawers with continuing figured mahogany and shaped wooden escutcheons, the whole raised on short turned and carved feet. This stunning piece of early 19th.
