Antique Georgian Regency Mahogany Bureau Desk C1790 Wdb4334/17.3

Description

Possible free delivery please enquire about this lovely antique georgian regency mahogany bureau of quality and dating from aorund 1790. It has a cross banded and finely strung edge to the fall front with brass escutcheon and opens to reveal an unusual and rather lovely interior with a satinwood central door which is inlaid with fruitwoods and with internal secret frieze drawer to the top and further drawer to the bottom the door is flanked on either side by original leather bound secret bookend drawers. Each bookend reads 'mistake volume 1' & mistake volume 2' and are oak lined (this is a lovely feature to the bureau). There are two long drawers to the top above a small central drawer with open compartment and two pigeon holes either side with shaped satinwood frieze.

To the base there are four long graduating drawers all of which are oak lined with later brass handles and it is moulded to the base and stands on bracket feet.

It is in very good condition with a lovely colour and deep patination to the mahogany oozing the charm and character of the period.

Measures: 44" high X knee height 31" X 22" deep X 46" wide
