Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large Japanese bronze vase jardinière from the Meiji period takes the form of a large treasure sack tied at the neck with a tasseled cord, cast in high relief with scattered cash, scrolls, musical instruments and Buddhist treasures. The dark brown metal finish shows signs of age with green verdigris in the recesses, while the mouth has a crimped, oval, scalloped form with detailed carvings along the flared rim. Measuring 41 cm high, 42 cm wide and 42 cm deep, the vessel sits securely on a sideboard top in a gentleman's library. Homeowners use this decorative jardinière for floral displays or as a standalone sculptural centrepiece on a prominent surface.

The Meiji period (18681912) was a notable era for Japanese bronze casting, recognised for lost-wax techniques, high-relief decoration, and naturalistic or symbolic motifs.

Craftsmen primarily utilised bronze cast via the lost-wax process, followed by hand-chasing, carving, and chemical patination to produce dark surface tones.

Authentic pieces exhibit substantial weight, crisp relief carving, natural age-related patination, and occasionally cast or incised maker marks on the underside.

A bronze vessel serves as a focal point on a sideboard top, shelf, or mantelpiece, displaying foliage or standing as an independent decorative object.

Regular dusting with a clean, soft cloth is recommended; to preserve the original patina, avoid harsh chemical polishes and water, applying microcrystalline wax occasionally.
