George III Inlaid Mahogany Bureau Bookcase

18th century
Description

Circa 1790, George III inlaid mahogany bureau bookcase. Surmounted by a moulded and dentil cornice over an inlaid frieze. Two astragal glazed doors open to adjustable book shelves with moulded fronts. The bureau has an exceptionally fine satinwood interior with ebony and tulipwood inlay with secret drawers, cupboards and pigeonholes. The 4 graduated long drawers with oval brass handles all on a moulded base with original shaped bracket feet.
