This French Provincial oak sideboard originates from 1910 and displays a warm brown timber colour with a heavy, thick grey veined marble top resting upon it. The piece contains two frieze drawers fitted with ornate brass drop handles and decorative backplates, positioned above a pair of panelled cabinet doors. Substantial decorative carving covers the solid oak framework, including geometric crosshatching on the upper drawers and stiles, along with floral motifs and raised fielded panels on the lower cabinet doors. A carved serpentine apron connects the cabriole feet at the base, which terminate in scrolling toes. The cabinet doors open via central brass drop handles, and a carved vertical moulding divides the two cupboards. Measuring 105 cm high, 135 cm wide, and 56 cm deep, this two-door sideboard provides practical surface space and enclosed storage for a dining room or living area. The combination of solid oak construction and heavy natural stone makes this item a robust storage solution for holding tableware, linens, or daily household items while introducing classic Continental character to an interior setting.

French Provincial furniture originated in the 18th century, crafted by provincial cabinetmakers who adapted elaborate Parisian styles into functional pieces using local hardwoods like oak and walnut.

These pieces typically feature solid native hardwoods, hand-carved decorative motifs, brass or iron hardware, and hand-cut marble tops sourced from European quarries.

Authentic pieces showcase hand-dovetailed drawer joints, hand-planed back panels, natural wear around drawer handles, and unpolished underside cuts on the original marble slab.

Position the sideboard in a dining room, hallway, or living area, pairing its detailed woodwork with neutral walls, minimalist ceramics, and framed artwork to balance traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft cloth, polish timber using natural beeswax, and clean the marble top exclusively with pH-neutral solutions to prevent etching acid-sensitive stone.
