We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Kula rugs originate from the town of Kula in western Anatolia, Turkey, historically renowned for producing distinctive wool carpets featuring traditional motifs, prayer niches, and unique colour palettes often dominated by soft yellows, blues, and reds.

These rugs are traditionally hand-knotted using handspun wool for both the pile and the foundation threads, often incorporating natural vegetable dyes to achieve rich, enduring hues.

Authentic pieces exhibit handspun yarns, natural dye variations, irregular knotting patterns on the reverse, and authentic wear consistent with age, alongside characteristic regional motifs specific to Anatolian weaving centres.

An antique rug serves as a textural anchor in a room, contrasting effectively against modern minimalist furniture, polished wooden flooring, or neutral upholstery to add historical depth and colour.

Preservation involves regular gentle vacuuming without beater bars, professional periodic washing by textile specialists, and keeping the rug out of direct sunlight to prevent colour fading.
