Antique Georgian Mahogany Bureau Desk with Secret Compartments C1780 Wdb350/2.1

Description

Possible free delivery please enquire about this lovely antique georgian mahogany bureau dating form aorund 1780. Constructed from quality mahogany it has a brass escutcheon to the fall front which opens to reveal a beautiful interior comprising of a central mahogany small cabinet with brass escutcheon and inlaid oval panel to either side of which is a painted panel and all strung with satinwood. This whole compartment entirely lifts out revealing a space for those 'hidden secrets'! To each side there is a long frieze drawer above three pigeon holes and then a row of two short drawers over one long drawer all of which are oak lined and with small brass handles. It has a green baise writing surface.

To the base of the bureau there are two short drawers above three long graduating drawers all of which are oak lined with brass escutcheons it is moulded to the base and stands on bracket feet.

A superb georgian mahogany bureau of quality in very good condition and with a lovely deep colour and patination.

Measures: 41" high X knee height 29" X 22" deep X 47" wide
