Description

A very large and substantial George III Gentleman's bureau of generous proportions. Constructed from good figured mahogany, this late 18th Century bureau has 4 graduated and cock beaded drawers, each retaining the original brass swan neck handles and escutcheons. The solid mahogany fall opens to reveal a black leather writing surface with a well fitted interior which has 8 pigeon holes and 4 small drawers and 2 large with 2 brass ring pulls. The centre with 2 pillar pull out tall drawers and a boxwood inlaid door which opens to a further 3 small drawers. This top quality piece of Georgian period furniture has a wonderful original colour and patina and stands on it's original offset ogee shaped bracket feet. Has good mahogany linings and panelled back with working locks and key. C1800. In very good original condition and ready for use in the home or office. Delivery to most of U.K. £75.
