Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A traditional Welsh dresser typically consists of a lower storage base featuring drawers and cupboards, topped with an open rack designed to display ceramics or tableware. Crafted extensively during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, these pieces served both functional and decorative roles in Welsh country homes.

Eighteenth-century Welsh dressers were primarily constructed from local hardwoods like oak or softwoods such as pine, often assembled with hand-cut dovetail joints, wooden peg fixings, and tongue-and-groove backboards. The interior of the upper rack section was frequently painted in light shades like blue or white to maximize light reflection in historic interiors.

Authentic period pieces display signs of hand-planed timber, irregular jointing, hand-forged nails or wooden pegs, and natural age-related shrinkage across solid wood panels. Genuine wear around original brass drawer pulls, keyholes, and base feet, alongside original painted or waxed surface patination, also indicates authenticity.

Integrate a pine dresser into modern kitchens or dining areas by contrasting its warm wood tones against modern neutral wall paint. Display contemporary ceramics, glassware, or curated studio pottery on the open shelves to bridge traditional craftsmanship with modern design aesthetics.

Preserve the wood finish by regularly applying a high-quality beeswax polish using a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding silicone-based sprays or harsh chemical cleaners. Keep the item situated away from direct heat sources and extreme humidity fluctuations to prevent timber warping or cracking.
