Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Dutch Rococo chest of drawers dates from the 19th century and is made of burr walnut, oak, and brass. The warm brown timber features a polished finish, with a top that is slightly lighter in tone than the three shaped drawers below. The bombé form incorporates a serpentine front, complemented by claw and ball feet, ornate cast brass handles, and matching brass escutcheons around keyholes. Practical measurements are 72 cm high, 90 cm wide, and 50 cm deep. Position this chest of drawers in a hallway, living room, or bedroom to provide practical storage surface space while adding traditional character. The cleaned and polished wooden surfaces highlight the natural grain patterns, whilst the repaired drawer runners ensure smooth daily use.

FAQs

Dutch Rococo furniture from the 18th century is characterized by its dramatic outward-curving bombe shapes, prominent serpentine fronts, and rich timber veneers such as burr walnut.

These pieces typically feature a solid pine or oak carcass covered in highly figured burr walnut veneers, finished with cast brass handles and escutcheons.

Authentic pieces feature hand-sawn oak drawer linings, hand-cut dovetail joints, thick natural timber veneers, and age-related oxidisation on the original brass fittings.

Position the piece as a focal point in a hallway or bedroom, pairing its dramatic curved silhouette with clean-lined modern artwork or a simple mirror above.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, apply a thin coat of natural beeswax polish annually along the wood grain, and keep the item away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
